Case Study: "My back hurts when I take a deep breath"

57 year old male reports to clinic with significant upper back/shoulder pain and limited range of motion in his neck. It is also painful when he takes a deep breath. This was diagnosed as a segmental dysfunction of the rib cage, or what some may describe has having a “rib out”.

His treatment plan consisted of chiropractic adjustments 2x week, laser therapy post adjustment, massage therapy 1x week and at home activities such as icing and using a ball against the wall for soft tissue release.

After his first 2 adjustments his pain levels were reduced and his range of motion was improved. One week later he has no pain with taking a deep breathe and he is feeling much better!
