Are you a swimmer? Here is what you should be doing to protect your thyroid gland!

                                                                  Interactions between Iodine and Chlorine

If you are an avid swimmer you are most likely spending a lot of time in a chlorinated pool. While you are submersed in water your skin in slowly absorbing chlorine. One of the places chlorine is store is in the thyroid gland. Chlorine can or will "displace" iodine in the thyroid because of their similar chemical makeup. 

Why is this important? Well Iodine is am important building block in producing thyroid hormones so if you are deficient in Iodine your thyroid may be under producing thyroid hormones leading to symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, hair loss and more!
